GEAR GRINDING WHEELS / WORM WHEELS (TO GRIND GEARS / GEAR TEETH GRINDING)
Abrasive gear wheels / worm wheels – ready profiled on request
Our pre-profiled worm wheels or gear grinding wheels are used in continuous generation gear grinding to grind gears or tooth flanks. The profile is inserted into the vitrified grinding wheel with the help of diamond grinders on our special grinding machines.
Our highly porous worm wheels meet the special requirements of tooth flank grinding while achieving cold grinding with high profile retention. We use bonds specially developed for this purpose. Upon request, we can supply the unprofiled gear grinding wheels in cylindrical shape or pre-profiled for your application.
What is the difference between continuous generation grinding and batch generation grinding?
Gear grinding is divided into continuous generation gear grinding and discontinuous generation grinding. In continuous generation grinding, the profile wheel and the workpiece perform a rolling motion so that an involute shape is created on the tooth flanks. The grinding wheel and the workpiece are in continuous contact and the workpiece moves along the grinding wheel. In batch generation grinding, one or a maximum of two tooth flanks are processed simultaneously. The tooth flanks are processed individually one after another. The wheel profile corresponds to the desired finished profile of the work piece.
More information on gear grinding generation can be found in our grinding knowledge section under “Grinding Processes/Applications”.
